Roz Tranfield

Roz started her career at the age of 16 as a fashion and photographic model, gaining work all over the UK and Europe.

She was a regular in all of the UK major beauty pageants winning many titles over the years which in turn, led her to the BBC where she was a TV Hostess on the iconic “It’s a Knock Out” and other TV work in Europe.

Roz ever looking to move forward, opened a Modelling and Finishing School at the famous Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool and two other venues across the North of England. She ran the school for many years helping many young girls and boys to gain confidence and indeed some went on to have their own successful modelling careers.

She ran the school for many years helping many young girls and boys to gain confidence and indeed some went on to have their own successful modelling careers.

Roz then took the bold step to go into the beauty business and enrolled with the Lillian Maund Training Centre where she trained for several years and gained many qualifications including International Aestheticienne of Beauty. Whilst at the Academy, she travelled extensively across Europe and also Asia, examining and teaching students to achieve their qualifications. When back in the UK, Roz decided it was time to stop travelling and open her own beauty salon in 1995. Twenty five years on, the salon is recognised as one of the finest in the North West and has won many awards including achieving Guinot Crown Salon Status for the past fifteen consecutive years. Roz has even had Sir Steve Redgrave’s rowers treated whilst being filmed for a TV series at the salon. Throughout her life, Roz has always had a positive attitude and tried to help others by raising tens of thousands of pounds for various different charities.

In 2014, Roz was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and while undergoing treatment, she turned her focus on raising money for the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Research Programme. To date, she has raised over £150,000. Other fund raising activities have also seen her take part in a Wing Walk, sponsored bike rides and to top it all, climbing Kilimanjaro.

2016 was a great year personally for Roz in that following her battle with Breast Cancer, she won the public vote and was awarded “Merseyside Woman of the Year”. She was also recognised for her fund raising efforts resulting in a further award for “Women Making a Difference Award” and “Scottish Power Peoples Champion Award”. In 2019, Roz was awarded the “Liverpool Echo Fundraiser Award”.

Her focus these days is still on fundraising and helping mentor other women diagnosed with Breast Cancer by sharing her own experiences and supporting them to stay positive.

Not to stop there, Roz has became a published author, telling the story of how she cared for her Mother for several years whilst she struggled with Alzheimer’s. The book “A Nice Cuppa Tea” was written in memory of her Mum and is today, helping raise awareness of Alzheimer’s, with part of the funds raised through sales of the book being donated to Alzheimer’s.
